College Football Recruiting: Top 2011 QB Recruit Christian Lemay Selects Georgia

Bryan KellyApr 30, 2010

Matthews, North Carolina quarterback Christian Lemay has announced that Georgia is his "leader," and Clemson and Texas A&M the two other finalists at his church in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The recent dismissal of Zach Mettenberger and the transfer rumors surrounding Logan Gray only helped the Bulldogs in their pursuit of Lemay, Scout's second-highest rated quarterback in the 2011 class.

Following those rumors, and some strong indications from Lemay's father, Stacy, the Dawgs came into this ceremony a lock to be finalists , and the consensus pick to be his "leader."

Though short of a verbal commitment, make no mistake: Lemay's use of the word "leader" is an indication that he will commit to play football for the Georgia Bulldogs and enroll in UGa in January of 2011, before the official National Signing Day takes place in February.

Lemay's intention from the beginning of his recruitment was to decide on a school as early as he could, both so he could enroll early and recruit for his selection on their behalf at the camps he attends.

Clemson and Texas A&M—one of which I predicted would make his final three —round out his top three. The Aggies and Tigers beat out Notre Dame and Auburn, Lemay's other two finalists in his top five.

Reaction piece to follow. Congrats to Christian on an excellent choice.
