£25million Bid For Modric by United !!!Were £800m Debts a Rumour?

A Notion that has been prevalent for quite some time now (especially before 2009-10 season started) is that Manchester United have too much money ..apparently with the Glazers at the helm , they just seem to have too much debt. If reports from reliable sources are to be believed Manchester United’s  debt of about close to 850m GBP is considered as  the highest among all  Premier League clubs  and also among many other well known leagues the world over.

With the sale of  Cristiano Ronaldo last  july , Manchester United supposedly made a profit in the succeeding  quarter on the books, as they conveniently  included the left over of that  mammoth sum (obtained from that phenomenal transfer  of Ronaldo)  after summer  transfers  in their  books .

Although this angered and caused dismay amongst many a United Fans . Their reasons were well justified as  the Glazers were just  sucking  out all the profits from every possible source and now were  covering the Club’s  debt with asset selling .

With  the Debt amount still intact Manchester United  faithfuls and well-to-do fans  have openly tried to form a union by the name of Red Knights  in order to over take the Glazers  at the helm.  Needless to say, with startling  performances all over the Glazers see an opportunity of further profit , if they hold on to the Club and so have so far turned down all efforts by the Red Knights.

Holding a Premier league club can be like holding on to a billion dollar share in the stock market, and if the owner is greedy  they hold it until its value can’t inflate any higher and then  tap profits selling the club off..With the recent turn of incidents at their bitter rival Liverpool’s owner ship , familiar feelings have only re-inforced.

Now, coming to the Transfer Market , it is true that  Manchester United have fans all over the world for their two apparently brilliant successive decades of Club football, and all these fans like all other want better talent to arrive at the Club . With a handful of ageing stars  like Giggs who has played  ever since the Premier League’s inception and Scholes along  a few others you would think their aspirations  are justified.

However, it is also true at the same time that unlike last season ,  there have been no really strong rumours about any asset that Manchester United is going to sell this summer (there are stories about Vididc leaving  but it is associated with a few 25m GBP valued defenders coming the other way!!!)  add to that the piling debt which keeps increasing  by the count due the associated interests.  The attitude of the Glazers  to all this have been like reckless kids who care the least about  their Parents money  that they are spending..

With this state of affairs , how rumours like Manchester United going for 25m GBP stars make rounds is baffling. Moreover, the approach  of Ferguson has been clear, with buys of Boselli and Chicarito he has already made a point about what type of targets Manchester are realistically looking at . Boselli is a 24 year old lad so he would surely not play for the youth academy or reserves if Ferguson bought him!!!

Thus, it is only very rational that all these Rumours of 25m bids for Modric , Benzema  etc.. be taken with a  light heart and never seriously, as stories about all these “to- be Manchester United players”  seem more of fiction than fact..

Luka Modric’s Manchester United move at  the momemt seems like ..”Modric  finding  Neverland”..
until ofcourse  Vidic is sold off with no real replacement and Evra also joins Ronaldo to be another  galactico (as is seemingly the next “Breaking News!!”)
