This years NFL Draft had drama,it had suspense, and to top all of that,it had some of the most illogical comments from the Sports Anchor's who should, after all these years of that type of career, they should know better than to just sit up their on their anchor thrown and toss dis after dis towards a young man who came from a College Football Program that has won SEC Championships, and National Championships the span of this young 21st Century.
What this reporter found most amusing, wasn't the off the wall and totally uncalled for comments by some of the biggest names in ESPN Sports casting;what was amusing to this reporter was how calm and graceful the young draftees, Tebow,McCoy and Clausen handled themselves, like gentlemen. The same cannot be said for some of the "Talking heads", I don't need to mention names, everyone who watched the draft heard the comments.
In my opinion,to even hint that Tebow is not a quarterback is illogical and sounds insane. Is he perfect? No,but he knows how to improve he has a high work ethic. A grace and an attitude that some of the sports casters could take lessons from. He is not jaded by fame or glory,he can handle loss with grace, tears and quiet ease.
McCoy, okay he is picked third round. Big frayed deal! It is obvious that the NFL teams needed more depth in other areas, and Quarterbacks came later on some's menu for success in 2010 and beyond.
Notre Dames graduating quarterback,Clausen. To hear some of them tell it,he is second coming of the Messiah? I hate to remind the Reporter's,but he couldn't get Notre Dame fired up,and his excuse pass the buck comments to Gruden didn't help him. Tebow to his credit and McCoy both could get their teams rallied and winning. No offense to Clausen, but I take a wait and see approach to a Quarterback who came out of a disaster of a program that Notre Dame was when he commanded them as QB,a let's wait and see how he can improve in the NFL. I personally believe he can do good things,I also believe that Tebow will do great things. McCoy,well one good hit on that shoulder of his and it could be career ending, then again it could be just another nerve shocked, bruised arm scare like he took in the BCS NC game in Pasadena.
One thing is clear to me. I think the reporters judged the quarterbacks just a little harshly, especially Tim Tebow. I wish them success and much luck in this the beginning of their careers in the NFL.
And we do hope that next years draft the TV reporter's will spend less time dissing and whining and more time reflecting over a player's college career, stats etc.
To all the NFL Rookies drafted this time, good luck, enjoy the ride.
