breaking news: santonio holmes traded to the new york jets

recently santonio holmes has often been in the news media negatively & today the pittsburgh steelers traded the troubled wide receiver to the new york jets for a fifth-round pick in this year's draft.

espn 1050 in new york first reported the story about the most recent trade.

santonio most recently had been accused of throwing a glass at a woman in a lounge. although no charges have been filed against him & a male witness has taken responsibility for tossing the glass, holmes was still traded away.

holmes haas been with the steelers for four seasons & was entering his fifth with 235 catches for 3,835 yards & 20 touchdowns.

in 2008, holmes was cited for marijuana possession, which is a misdemeanor in Pennsylvania. the steelers made holmes inactive for the game following the incident & he subsequently apologized.

in ohio, back in 2006, he was arrested on a domestic violence charge, which was later dropped.

holmes was the mvp of super bowl XLIII
