Will Cameron Newton Quarterback The Auburn Football Team In 2010?
I was informed by an irate Alabama fan, that every article I write with Cameron Newton in it should be listed as opinion. Of course everything pertaining to college football this time of the year is largely opinion. It is our lot when writing about one team that the fans of another will be disappointed at times.
I guess it all comes down to educated opinion. It is a well known fact that nothing is certain in college football. Sometimes it does help to have information and opinion from other sources.
Let us now take a web tour of Cameron Newton’s football career so far. Here are some early scenes from recruiting video. Here is some early video of him at Florida in the SEC. This shows a little about his arm strength and accuracy.
Cameron Newton quarterbacks Blinn College to a National Title in 2009. It looks as if he did quite a job. Here is a video interview with a local reporter just days ago. An interview with Gus Malzhan by a local reporter that is certainly relevant.
The simple truth about Cameron Newton is that he has an unfair advantage. He is taller, stronger, faster and can throw the football farther than any of the other quarterbacks. Both Barret Trotter and Clint Moseley are doing great. Gus Malzhan said that Neil Caudle knows the offense as well as he does.
There is still that big overbearing issue on the field. How can the other quarterbacks overcome Newton’s huge physical advantages? There are only a few ways. Can they execute better? The answer to that so far is no. Can they out think Newton? Maybe, but he is picking up the offense really well.
The simple truth is there are a group of quarterbacks that are farther along right now than any Auburn quarterback was in September of 2009. They could all step in and run the Auburn offense. They would all likely do a good job of running the offense.
The overbearing question is: which quarterback can run the Auburn offense the best? Which quarterback can unlock the most potential from the Auburn offense in 2010? Which quarterback will win the most games for Auburn in 2010?
Then there is that question that looms above them all: How does a quarterback overcome all of those advantages given to Cameron Newton?
