Fantasy MMA: Fedor Emelianekno crowned Open Weight Grand Prix Champion
Well, fight fans, the votes are in, and our Fantasy Open Weight Grand Prix Champion has been crowned.
Truthfully, it should come as no surprise.
Let’s have a nice round of applause for our champion, Fedor Emelianenko.
His opponent, Georges St. Pierre, put forth a valiant effort, but ultimately Fedor’s combination of size and skill proved to be too much for the reigning UFC welterweight champion to overcome, losing the battle by a vote of 15 to five.
Fedor has once again proved that no matter who is placed in front of him, he will come out victorious.
While many may argue, including myself, that he can no longer be considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, we all must respect his status and accomplishment within this fine sport.
Just because Fedor has yet to grace the Octagon does not lessen his greatness.
Yes, I would love for him to come and compete in the UFC and be a part of the most intriguing heavyweight division the sport has seen since the heyday of Pride FC. But honestly, with all of the variables involved in making that happen, I highly doubt we will ever see that day come.
I really appreciate everyone taking part in the voting and voicing their opinions on the matchups and possible outcomes.
Please feel free to let me know what your thoughts of the concept were and if there is anything I could have done differently to make it better.
Stay tuned as I have a couple of similar concepts that I will be rolling out in the near future.
And if you missed any of the fun from the tournement, check it out:
