Before you start bashing and laughing at me, this is my first article relating to Pro Wrestling so I won't care about what comments you write.
Anthony Carelli was born in my hometown of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and was trained in Judo and soon became a MMA fighter in Japan before he moved to the US to learn how to become a professional wrestler.
He then started working for Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) , developmental territory of the WWE and then became known as Boris Alexiev, and has a Russian shoot-fighter gimmick, and became known to dominate opponents with stiff strikes and deadly submission-style wrestling, including a 10-second win over a wrestler named Dewey. He then went on to become a 2-time OVW Television Champion. And then he was called up to WWE and this is where his greatest moment happened.
Santino became a 2-time Intercontinental Champion, had rivalries with Chris Masters, Roddy Piper and him and Carlito even had a feud with Holly and Rhodes for the World Tag Team Championships, On-screen girlfriends such as Maria and Beth Phoenix.
His secong title reign by defeating Kofi Kingston resulted on him looking to become the longest reigning Intercontinental champion of all time. He faced the Honky Tonk Man @ Cyber Sunday, losing by DQ, but failed to live up to expectations by losing to William Regal on a match on Raw. He went on to be eliminated by Kane at the 2009 Royal Rumble in 2009 setting an all time record for shortest time in the Rumble at 1.9 seconds! But you knew things had taken it's toll when Santina debuted.
Santina debuted at Wrestlemania XXV and became the first " Miss WrestleMania." On the May 18 episode of Raw Santina lost the "Miss Wrestlemania" title to Vickie Guerrero. Marella won it back at Extreme Rules when he defeated Vickie Guerrero and Chavo Guerrero in a Handicap Hog Pen Match. On the June 22, 2009 episode of Raw, the new "owner" of Raw, Donald Trump fired Santina, finally ending that storyline.
Now Santino has been backstage on Raw with the guests hosts and has become a jobber. All his earlier accomplishments proved he can wrestle, let's just hope the WWE can see that.
- OVW Television Champion (2 times)
