Is Owen Hart Worthy Of Going Into The WWE Hall Of Fame?

Owen Hart passed away in 1999 due to a stunt accident during a WWE pay per view event dubbed Over The Edge in Kansas City Missouri. Owen Hart was known as the funny guy behind the scenes within the wrestling industry and he was also a very polished wrestler in the eyes of many. Wrestling fans had come to love Owen’s in ring work and his hilarious moments on the mic. When WWE does their hall of fame nominations every year, people want to see the big names go into the hall of fame for their great accomplishments they had in the wrestling industry so it still shocks me that Owen Hart has not made it yet.

Owen had wrestled a lot in Japan in his early career because he just didn’t seem to get over with the big American companies yet until 1993 hit and then WWE gave Owen a break by signing him. Owen was a mid carder for months until the WWE felt like he should be a heel by turning on his brother Bret at the 1994 Royal Rumble which was Owen’s big break. Owen got to wrestle his brother Bret at WrestleMania X in the most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. The match between the two brothers was an all time classic and is still voted on by the fans as one of the best WrestleMania matches of all time. Owen’s feud with his brother really excelled his growth as a heel plus winning the 1994 King Of The Ring really made the wrestling fans take him serious as a performer.

Owen would go on to have a very fine career by winning the IC Title several times, the European Title, and being one half of the tag team champions on multiple occasions with some various partners from the likes of Yokozuna to Jeff Jarrett and to his brother in law, the British Bulldog. Owen’s life was cut short due to the accident at Over the Edge in 1999 and it was a large part to do with WWE’s pressure of making stunts look great. Owen’s family did sue WWE and it became a mess along with the fact that Bret left the company on some bad terms “Montreal Screw Job”.

Ever since Owen’s death though, the WWE has went out to Bret and inducted him into the hall of fame and this year they are inducting Owen’s father Stu Hart into the hall of fame. With two Hart members being inducted, don’t you think it is time for the WWE to induct Owen Hart?
