Jimmie Johnson Leads the Pack for His 48th Win at Fontana

Jimmie Johnson led over 100 laps in today's 500 mile race at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana; getting incredibly lucky!  There’s no two ways around that.

In the concluding laps of today's race, Kevin Harvick tried to take the lead, but in the end Johnson takes his 48th win by claiming victory of the Auto Club 500.

"Today fortune came our way when we hit pit road and the caution came out and it gave us track position," Johnson said. "We lost the handle the second half of the race. ... The fact that we were on pit road gave us track position and I drove my butt off, and we finally got our car turning."

Whether Johnson's future holds a 5th consecutive NASCAR championship is a question that remains a mystery, but if luck keeps coming his way you can surely believe that his already monumental career will traverse to levels never before seen.
