Chris Benoit:Hall Of Fame?
Ok I've never written a article on here before,so why not make my first one controversial? The Question is should Chris Benoit be inducted to the WWE's HOF?
Let's start by looking at his credentials:One of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time with many great matches in his career.WCW/WWE WHC/IC title holder/tag champion etc etc.No question. On wrestling credentials alone one cannot deny Benoit deserves a place amongst wrestling's elite.
Now to the other argument, should the events of his last weekend on earth deny him a place in the HOF.

Soto Hasn't Talked to Team 😶
To be honest this article was inspired by an argument with someone I had on a forum(no, surprisingly I don't have a girlfriend, form an orderly queue ladies)! And another article I read on a wrestling website.
This article pointed towards the fact that Bret Hart and Steve Austin where in the HOF despite Hart's admission of his many affairs in his autobiography and Austin's reputation for abusing women. If we are objecting to people being inducted on Moral grounds. Why are these two in the HOF?Where do you draw the line?
One could argue, that both the marriages of Bret and Steve I've referenced resulted in Divorce. Neither man can ever hurt that woman in that way,so, to some extent at least they have moved on from what Steve and Bret did to them.
Nancy Benoit can't move on from what her husband did to her. She's dead.
Daniel Benoit can't move on from what his daddy did to him. He's dead.
Where do you draw the line?Somewhere before inducting a child killer seems a reasonable place to me
See whilst I don't condone Bret's philandering, and I certainly don't condone Steves violence towards Women(alleged I probably should add). Neither person died as a result. And neither person was that most innocent of victims,a young child.
See that's the thing people who argue for Benoits hof induction seem to overlook. He is a child killer.Sorry but human beings don't really come lower than that.
Let's look at another argument they use."Isn't the HOF supposed to be about wrestling ability and impact on the industry, not anything else". Oh please, wake up and smell the freaking coffee will ya?If it was really based on those factors would the likes of Koko.B.Ware be in before Ron Simmons?Nikolai Volkoff before Eric Bishoff? How about Bob Orton jr before Randy Savage?Don Muraco before Jake Roberts? Come on.Who can honestly argue that any of the guys in the HOF,mentioned above deserve it or made a bigger impact than those who I've mentioned who are not in.Clearly not.So no, the HOF is not purely about wrestling ability,it is about a variety of factors, one of the main ones being whether or not you are in Vinces good books or not.And let's be honest, given the hammering wrestling's rep took in the wake of the benoit tragedy,Vince would be an idiot to dredge it up again.
Anyway my main argument is this:What the hell would Nancy and Daniels relatives think? How would you justify it to them?"look I know you've lost a part of your soul that can never be replaced and went though pain that is unimaginable and that will never go away, but come on he was a hell of a worker and deserves to be honored for that?"?Not really a justification is it?
Anyway,I'm going to end with the comment I used in my forum arguement "Instead of inducting Benoit into the HOF,why not simply go up to all those who loved and cared about Daniel and Nancy, spit in thier faces, then find they're graves and dance on them.As this is metraphroically what inducting him in the hall of Fame would be doing".
