Is John Cena The Next Hulk Hogan??
Wrestling fans have come to adore several superstars over the years as "Stars" of the business. There have been huge stars in the WWE from Ric Flair to Triple H to The Rock to Stone Cold Steve Austin; but, the biggest star that the WWE or quite possibly the entire wrestling industry has ever seen would have to be Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan is an icon in professonal wrestling because Vince McMahon put his stock and resources behind Hogan when the wrestling biz needed a big star to grasp apon.
Hulk Hogan frankly made the WWE back in the 1980's to 1993 by his crazy promos and his earth shattering persona. Hogan has headlined over five WrestleMania's, been a six time WWE World Champion, six time WCW World Champion, a 2 time Royal Rumble winner, and is in the WWE Hall of Fame. Hogan is known by people around the world even the people who have never followed wrestling has come to know Hulk Hogan. Hogan has been the top guy in WWE, WCW, and now has creative control in TNA. These accompishments are great to wrestling fans but his real legacy is how he has made wrestling into a global powerhouse, that is greater because it breathed life into the wrestling business and it opened many doors for wrestling to go beyond the squared circle.
Now I know Hulk Hogan has done so many great things and was the top man in wrestling throughout the 80's, but now I believe the next guy to take that role from Hulk Hogan is John Cena. John Cena has done a lot in the WWE since his debut back in 2002. Cena is a seven time WWE World Champion, three time United States Champion, two time WWE Tag Team Champion, and the winner of the 2008 Royal Rumble Match. Cena has a lot in common with Hulk Hogan, they both do not have the greatest moves list in the ring, they were not main event players at first, and they never will be known as the greatest in ring wrestlers. These two men though have done one thing that many wrestling fans have adored or hated, they have gone main streamed through out their run in the wrestling industry.
Cena and Hogan are both well known throughout the world, they have both been pushed very well in the WWE, and they continue to contribute to the wrestling industry. There are a lot of wrestling fans who may not like Cena however he does have the "it" factor that most young wrestlers creave for. Vince McMahon has done so many revolutionary things in the wrestling business from going global with the WWE to the Atttiude Era. There is one thing that Vince hasn't done yet, that is making John Cena a mega attraction as he did for Hulk Hogan.
John Cena has a fan base that is just as strong as Hogan's was in the 80's and Cena has the media aodring him like Hogan did. Cena may not wow you with his wrestling moves but he has great matches, he is a pro at his job, and he is always willing to try new things if it means getting the WWE to bigger and better places. John Cena has had several great matches and moments throughout his tenure in the WWE but if Vince McMahon plays his cards right with Cena, then we wrestling fans maybe calling John Cena "The Immortal".
