Venus and Serena Williams Cruise Into the Third Round of the Australian Open
In the true Williams sisters' style, Venus and Serena won their second round matches.
As I've mentioned in a previous article, there's something special about watching these talented sisters play tennis. They are simply exceptional.
Venus was up first, facing Austrian Sybille Bammer. In the first set, Venus was the typical power hitter she's known to be, easily winning 6-2.

However, the second set found Venus struggling. At one point, she was down 4-1. But then, it was like she was jolted and something ignited in her, and she battled back. With every point, it was as if you were watching a battery charging, she just got stronger and stronger. In the end, Venus was able to pull the win out in the second set, 7-5.
She now enters the third round, facing Aussie Casey Dellacqua, coming off her win over Karolina Sprem.
In her second round matchup, Serena proved that she earned her No. 1 ranking.
Entering the court, Serena was once again bandaged, but there was no doubt on her face. Whether she was bandaged to deal with an injury or for preventative measures (and it didn't matter either way), this young lady came to play tennis.
And that is exactly what she did.
In the first set, she jumped out to an early and easy 1-0 lead over her opponent, 19-year-old Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.
However, Kvitova proved that she was going to give it her all, knowing that would be the only way to pull out a win. But, once again, even Kvitova's powerful left-handed forehand was no match for the skill and agility of Serena.
Serena won the match, 6-2, 6-1.
Serena will now face Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro. If the name sounds familiar, it is because Navarro defeated Venus in the second round of the Australian Open last year.
We are sure to continue to see Venus and Serena playing great tennis during this year's Australian Open.
