GBL commissioner, Kevin Outcalt sees this as a tremendous opportunity to continue to grow the team and provide entertainment for the fans of Southern Utah

ā€œSt. George is a great baseball town and the fan base and business support has grown every year for this team,ā€ said GBL commissioner Kevin Outcalt in a press release. ā€œI’m sure the new owners will see even more support as a return for their investment in the team and efforts in continuing to provide this entertainment option to the people of Southern Utah.ā€

According to the Spectrum, ā€œSouthern Utah’s #1 source for news and informationā€ the RoadRunners have seen a steady increase in attendance since their 2007 inception despite recent monetary struggles.

The return of the RoadRunners is great for the game, especially the Independent Leagues, where there are a long line of teams that have ceased operations for various reasons; location, attendance etc.

However, a team that was on the brink, will bring the community of St. George a financial boost of $4 million to $5 million, this, according to a release by the GBL.

The 2010 season begins on May 19, with the Calgary Vipers visiting the Yuma Scorpions and the Edmonton Capitals traveling to Tucson to take on the Toros.

The RoadRunners schedule begins with their home-opener on May 21, against the 2008 League Champion Orange County Flyers.
