Nascar Sprint Cup: The Spoiler May "Spoil" the Non-Elite Teams Progress.
NASCAR official spokesman Ramsey Poston said on Thursday they are seriously considering replacing the rear wing on the Cup car with a spoiler.
So there might be change ! Another change!
The wing might be out and the spoiler could be in.
The spoiler might have another meaning for some teams, the word “spoiler” may mean a lot more then the intended description of a rear "wind changing apparatus".
It could very well “spoil” all the work the lower tear teams did to stay competitive the last two years, think about this, can you imagine the amount of race data that would just become trash?
The elite teams won't be hurt by this change, they got an important asset called “money” and that my friends buys lots of technical support.
In Hendricks case we're talking about six sources of data gathering , four from their own team and two from the Stewart-Haas teams, they probably can get this new set up figured out at Daytona.
The two and one car teams will once again end up on the outside looking in, spending more money to get their car changed and probably spending half the season figuring out how to finish in the top 30 or hopping to at least make the show.
If this change goes forward it most likely hand over a fifth championship to No. 48 Jimmie Johnson .
Agree?
Hey , I’m not an engineer, I may be wrong , maybe this new set up will make it easier for the “best of the rest” to be more competitive.
I seriously doubt that will be the case.
It would be good to know how you feel about this, so please comment, give me your take, I just don’t understand all the reasons for this change.
One complain the drivers have is that apparently the wing obstructs their vision, fair complain, but that has nothing to do with the handling of the car.
Am I wrong ?
It has been reported NASCAR talked to fourteen driver about this change, but they didn't say who they were, It would be very interesting to know who and why they recommended the change.
A quote in a publish report stated that all fourteen drivers were in favor of the spoiler.
I guess is just the evolution of the COT, but it seams to me change is coming too quickly when compared with other major sports, this decisions looks to be reactionary rather them a long thought out process.
Time will tell if that's the case, usefully when changes are make quickly multiple corrections will fallow.
A sort of trial and error.
Time will tell.
I’ll leave you with a couple of questions:
Did the COT do the job as advertised?
If it did , why do they want to change part of it so quickly?
Just asking.
