Fantasy Hoops Waiver Wire Bin: Vol. 9

Ryan LesterJan 4, 2010

I’ve scoured the fantasy basketball waiver wires to find gems so you don’t have to.

Ty Lawson, Denver Nuggets

Lawson has been on a tear with Chauncey Billups out. Last week he averaged 19.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.7 three-pointers. He shot 55.0 percent from the floor and 85.7 percent from the line. On the year he’s averaging 9.2 points, though his strong play should lead to an increased role even when Billups returns. Lawson is owned in 23 percent of Yahoo! and 9.7 percent of ESPN leagues.

Omri Casspi, Sacramento Kings

It’s a wonder how Casspi continues to show up on this list. Not because I'm surprised of his production, but I'm surprised at his low ownership (38 percent Yahoo!, 14.2 percent ESPN). Last week he averaged 19.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 steals, and 2.5 three-pointers. Omri shot 51.9 percent from the floor and 81.3 percent from the line.

Rasual Butler, Los Angeles Clippers

Butler continues to put up solid numbers. Last week he averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 steals, 1.5 blocks, and 3.5 three-pointers. He shot 47.8 percent from the floor. Rasual is owned in 16 percent of Yahoo! and 2.3 percent of ESPN leagues.

Matt Barnes, Orlando Magic

Barnes has picked up his play since working his way into the starting lineup. Last week he averaged 16.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 blocks, and 1.7 three-pointers. He shot 56.7 percent from the floor and 91.7 percent from the line. Barnes is owned in 18 percent of Yahoo! and 2.8 percent of ESPN leagues.

Luther Head, Indiana Pacers

Head has also played well since earning a starting gig. Last week he averaged 19.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.0 steal, and 2.3 three-pointers. He shot 49.2 percent from the floor and 92.3 percent from the line. Luther is owned in 11 percent of Yahoo! and 1.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

Roy Hibbert, Indiana Pacers

Hibbert has also played well for the Pacers. Last week he averaged 17.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor and 88.2 percent from the charity stripe. Roy is owned in 52 percent of Yahoo! and 19.0 percent of ESPN leagues.

Eddie House, Boston Celtics

House has picked up his play with Paul Pierce out. Last week he averaged 12.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steal, and 2.7 three-pointers. He shot 43.3 percent from the floor and didn’t miss a free throw. Eddie is owned in 7 percent of Yahoo! and 3.3 percent of ESPN leagues.

Roger Mason, San Antonio Spurs

Mason averaged 12.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 three-pointers last week. He made half of his shots from the field and all of his free throws. Roger is owned in 7 percent of Yahoo! and 1.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
