Carolina Hurricanes: Who Needs To Be Fired
It's no secret that the Carolina Hurricanes are having a terrible season. They have scored the least amount of goals while allowing the most, and have terrible numbers on both the power play and penalty kill.
I'm impressed that they have 25 points. With those numbers, every win is a minor miracle. Right now, they are on pace for just over 50 points.
However, we can all stop talking about the season that the Hurricanes are having. Now, we need to move on to something else.

We're going to start playing the blame game.
First of all, I don't think that you can blame the players. You can almost never blame the players when a team plays consistently bad.
Teams play poorly because they have players in places they shouldn't. That's not the fault of the players, that's coaching.
However, the coach has a limited amount of resources. He has to put players in the appropriate lines, positions, and give them the right systems.
If the coach doesn't have the players he needs, that's not his fault.
That seems to be the problem the Carolina Hurricanes are having this season. Yes, they've been shelled by injuries, but no, that's not an excuse.
The Hurricanes were not ready for the injuries they faced. They have completely ignored their AHL team. When players were injured, they were forced into bringing up players that were unprepared.
This caused the team to play even worse. The players they were forced into calling up were not ready to play in the NHL.
To me, the only people that can be blamed are those in the front office. They allowed this team to fail, and they completely ignored the team's future.
They also let some key players leave the team. They didn't give coach Paul Maurice the tools that he needed to succeed, and they were completely unprepared for the injuries that they would face this season.
This team has to rebuild from the bottom up. They have nothing that they can rely on. They don't even have a strong farm system.
It's going to be a few years before this team can even think about playoff contention. The front office messed this team up pretty bad, and it's going to take a long time to fix it.
So, if you're asking me who needs to be fired, I'm going to say just about everybody in the front office. They just didn't give this team a chance.
