Fantasy Basketball Box Score Breakouts: Dec. 22, 2009

Ryan LesterDec 23, 2009

Here’s a look at some fantasy basketball players that blew up the box score last night.

Earl Boykins, Washington Wizards
26 MIN, 18 PTS, 6-10 FG, 5-6 FT, 1 3PM, 2 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL, 1 TO

Boykins had 11 points in his previous four games and 27 in his previous six, so he’ll need to show me a lot more before I endorse him.

Nazr Mohammed, Charlotte Bobcats
18 MIN, 12 PTS, 6-9 FG, 9 REB, 1 STL, 1 BLK

Nazr reached double-figures for the first time in seven games. He had also went 12 straight games without seven rebounds. He’s not an option at this point.

Earl Watson, Indiana Pacers
36 MIN, 18 PTS, 6-13 FG, 3-4 FT, 3 3PM, 7 REB, 6 AST, 1 STL, 5 TO

Watson was outstanding as the starting Point Guard for the Pacers. With games like this he should be able to hold off T.J. Ford. Only add him in deep leagues right now. Otherwise, just keep an eye on him.

Rasheed Wallace, Boston Celtics
36 MIN, 9 PTS, 3-8 FG, 2-2 FT, 1 3PM, 13 REB, 3 AST, 3 STL, 1 BLK

Sheed got the start for KG (thigh) and responded in a big way. The KG of old would have battled through that. Different story. Anyway, KG will play in their next game, which will limit Sheed’s value.

Corey Brewer, Minnesota Timberwolves
40 MIN, 15 PTS, 5-12 FG, 4-6 FT, 1 3PM, 4 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 3 TO

He’s very inconsistent, but a good player to have in daily transaction leagues.

Chris Hunter, Golden State Warriors
31 MIN, 14 PTS, 6-9 FG, 2-2 FT, 6 REB, 2 AST, 3 STL, 3 BLK

Hunter finally got some run and made the most of it. Golden State’s bigs (Turiaf and Biedrin) should return soon so any temporary increase fantasy value will be short-lived.

Juwan Howard, Portland Trail Blazers
34 MIN, 10 PTS, 5-10 FG, 10 REB, 4 AST, 1 STL, 2 TO

When I think of Juwan, I think of Jalen Rose, who was my favorite of the Fab Five. That makes me smile. When I think of Juwan as someone on my fantasy team, I cringe.

Erick Dampier, Dallas Mavericks
31 MIN, 8 PTS, 3-7 FT, 2-8 FT, 15 REB, 2 AST, 1 TO

Dampier is a force on the glass.

Jose Juan Barea, Dallas Mavericks
35 MIN, 22 PTS, 9-16 FG, 1-1 FT, 3 3PM, 1 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL, 2 TO

Barea has been inconsistent alternating between 20+ points and single-digit points in his last five games. He has averaged 14.8 points over his last eight games though.

Kyle Lowry, Houston Rockets
30 MIN, 16 PTS, 6-13 FG, 3-3 FT, 1 3PM, 5 REB, 7 AST, 2 STL, 2 TO

His scoring is inconsistent, but he’s averaged 7.0 assists over his past four games. His value would hit the roof if Aaron Brooks would ever go down.

Carl Landry, Houston Rockets
37 MIN, 27 PTS, 7-10 FG, 13-15 FT, 5 REB, 1 AST, 2 BLK, 3 TO

This time Landry took a bite out of the Clippers. Seriously though, he wasn’t afraid to get physical judging by his free-throw totals.

Thabo Sefolosha, Oklahoma City Thunder
33 MIN, 16 PTS, 6-11 FG, 2-2 FT, 2 3PM, 5 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 2 BLK

Thabo can be used in daily transaction leagues. He’s not productive enough to use in weekly leagues.
