Kasey Kahne, who's been on something of a winning streak, continued his good fortune by setting the fastest lap Friday evening at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Hendrick Motorsports' senior members Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon posted good qualifying times on the road course (2nd and 5th respectively). Starting third on Sunday will be a Busch, and no, not the one with M&Ms on his car. Big brother Kurt will roll off the line on the inside of row 2.
With the exception of Denny Hamlin who qualified a decent 13th, Joe Gibbs Racing struggled a bit in qualifying. Kyle Busch will start a dismal 30th and Tony Stewart will roll off a surprising 39th.
Bobby Labonte and Elliot Sadler, who haven't had the best luck this season will be starting 4th and 6th respectively. As for the "Road Course Ringers" such as Boris Said and Ron Fellows made the race but didn't take the top spots as they usually do in the road course events.
It was also great to see owner/driver Robby Gordon, NASCAR's lone (I believe, correct me if mistaken) single car team qualifying well, Gordon will start 8th Sunday.
