NHL Announces 2007-08 All-Star and All-Rookie Teams
At the NHL end-of-season awards ceremony, all eyes were on Alexander Ovechkin as he added some impressive hardware to his personal trophy case.
The NHL also announced its 2007-08 first and second team All-Stars as well as the All-Rookie team. Here's a look at the winners...

Voting for the All-Rookie Team was conducted by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association at the conclusion of the 2007-08 regular season.
2007-08 NHL First Team All-Stars
- Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov, San Jose Sharks
- Defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom, Detroit Red Wings
- Defenseman Dion Phaneuf, Calgary Flames
- Forward Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins
- Forward Alexander Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
- Forward Jarome Iginla, Calgary Flames
Nicklas Lidstrom earned the ninth first team All-Star selection of his career, the most among active defensemen.
Malkin, Nabokov, and Phaneuf each earned the first selection of their careers to the NHL's first All-Star team.
Alexander Ovechkin earned the third consecutive first team nomination of his three year NHL career. Ovechkin is the first player since Terry Sawchuk (1950-53) to earn first team honors in each of his first three NHL seasons.
2007-08 NHL Second Team All-Stars
- Goaltender Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils
- Defenseman Brian Campbell, San Jose Sharks
- Defenseman Zdeno Chara, Boston Bruins
- Forward Joe Thornton, San Jose Sharks
- Forward Henrik Zetterberg, Detroit Red Wings
- Forward Alex Kovalev, Montreal Canadiens
Campbell, Kovalev, and Zetterberg each are making their debuts on an NHL All-Star team.
Martin Brodeur, this year's Vezina Trophy winner, is making his fourth appearance on the second team, to go along with three first team selections.
Chara and Thornton are each making their second appearance on the second team, to go along with one first team selection for each player.
All-Star Team Snubs: Pavel Datsyuk, Vincent Lecavalier, Jason Spezza, Daniel Alfredsson, Illya Kovalchuk, Sergei Gonchar, Mark Streit, Andre Markov, Mike Green.
