Bleacher Creature College Football Poll: Remember the Longhorns
The top two teams in last week's poll (that played), Florida and Texas, both showed complete domination over their opponents on Saturday, winning by 24 and 27 points respectively.
Both teams displayed explosive offenses and suffocating defenses, both teams won away from their home fields, and both teams proved they deserved their lofty rankings.
Yet in the week 10 Bleacher Creature poll, the Longhorns have overtaken the top spot from the Gators and in the process have broken the stranglehold the SEC has held on the top spot this season.
Mack Brown's team has more wins against top 25 opponents (two to one), and neither team will face another top 25 opponent until their conference championship games, which is where Urban Meyer's team could earn that No. 1 ranking back. Beating Alabama or LSU would garner more praise than beating Kansas State or Nebraska.
The battle for the rest of the top five was quite interesting last week.
Iowa needed a miracle fourth quarter (and the help of some front-runner refs) to escape again with the win against lowly Indiana, USC was embarrassed at Oregon and fell out of the top 10, and Cincinnati did just enough to get the win at rebuilding Syracuse.
Seven teams will put their undefeated records and championship hopes on the line Saturday.
Survive and advance.
The conference breakdown for Week 10 is as follows: Big Ten (4), Pac-10 (4), ACC (3), Big XII (3), Big East (3), SEC (3), Mountain West (2), Conference USA (1), Independents (1), WAC (1).
