October 7, 2007- Randy Orton is given, then loses, then wins the WWE Championship at No Mercy.

April 27, 2008- 'The Age of Orton' comes to an end when (you guessed it) Triple H wins a Fatal Four Way Elimination match at Backlash.

And when the Legend Killer's chance to regain gold came, he was determined to make the most of it.

Unfortunately for him, destiny had other plans.

During his Last Man Standing match against Triple H at One Night Stand, Randy Orton seemed to be in control.  He had a cord firmly around his opponent's neck, and had been a two count away from regaining the championship.  Then, the former champion went for his signature move, the RKO.

It would prove to be a deadly mistake.

Triple H reversed Orton's attempt, sending the third generation Superstar to a devastating fall over the top rope.  With a loud thud, an enormous bruise formed on his back as he clutched his arm.  Fans in the arena and watching live on PPV heard Orton cry out to the referee:

 "My collarbone is broken".

The injury couldn't have come at a worse time, as Orton was scheduled to win the event, and the WWE title, and go on to Night of Champions at the end of the month.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

On the other hand, the injury was a blessing in disguise for the former World Heavyweight Champion.  Samantha Orton, Randy's wife, is expected to give birth to their first child, a baby girl, in mid-July.  While he'd requested house shows off a month ago, it appeared his wish hadn't been granted, and he was going to miss her birth.  However, his clean broken collarbone is working for him, as he'll be able to spend time with his growing family.

Maybe this was his destiny after all.

  1. Very veryy good

  2. How convenient, I never liked his character no way.

  3. Uh, I actually don't believe he was scheduled to win the belt. As far as I've read, he's been wanting time off due to the birth of his first child so he was expected to be coming off tv soon.

  4. after what orton has done to so many of the wwe greats a broken collarbone is just the beginning.

  5. I read that he was going to win. Obviously you can't believe everything you read but... yeah. And no actually he wasn't going to be taken off TV at all he didn't want to miss any RAW or PPVs, just housewhows.

And Troy, WWE is scripted it's not actually like he'd do that in real life. If you've ever met him, he's a lot nicer than people give him credit for.

    1. No Jen he actually was supposed to be taking time off, i read it everywhere he would be off T.V. for a while after One Night Stand. Either way your right his injury did come at a nice time.

  6. sounds like to me this was the best thing for randy getting to be with his wife and his baby and when he comes back he will not ahve to be a heel since they are going to drop the heel ebcause tis hard to have someone who just came back from a injury and just ahve a baby be a bad guy.

get well soon randy and grats on your baby.

  7. Realy, because I heard from a friend that Randy was gay. But that person lies alot, so i don't know if that's true. Anyway, best wishes Randy.

  8. No, Randy isn't gay. Not that it has a lot to do with the article, but no he's not lol.

  9. Randy Orton isnt gay OK . hes a man who has a family and has a baby on the way. but really i am happy for randy and his wife and im sure he'll be good father. i just wish Randy Orton returns to RAW and win back the wwe title from who ever may have it. THE AGE OF ORTON will be back and when it does, it's gonna take over the world!

  10. I agree Rachel you hit the nail on the head :D!!

  11. And no Ryan I can show you from sites where he wouldn't be missing TV, just house shows he didn't want to be taken out of the title picture

    1. I think Jen may have a crush on "Mr. RKO"

    2. Meh, we're all wrong. And to whoever said that he could come back as a face...NO. Please, NO. It didn't work in 2004, it won't work now.

  12. Because that totally has everything to do with this article... I have a ton of respect for Randy Orton, and he has a wife and a child. Thanks, but no thanks.

    1. I'm just joking, sorry. I do want to point out that Randy was leaving after One Night Stand I saw it on like every wrestling site there is, so either way Randy was leaving after ONS(obviously due to the birth of his first child).

  13. I can show you the bits I got from WrestleAttitude that said he didn't want to miss TV or PPV. He was in the middle of the title picture missing TV would be stupid when he could just get house shows off.

  14. i can show you 7 articles that say diffrent.

    1. I was also going to say that I've seen several saying he was coming off tv anyways. And with guys like that, it's not like Vince forgets about you.

  15. RANDY ORTON IS GAD!!!!! and why would he want too miss ppvs and shit when he was in the middle of the title check your resources you biznatch lol j/k but once randy gets back raw will be the number one show because right now it sucks it has no good stories going for it right now...smackdown is the show to watch wherever triple h goes ratings go even thought triple h should be bad because his persona and the way he carries himself he just makes a better bad guy

  16. GOD sorry lol
