How many of us keenly followed Tennis in the past one month? Post US Open, this sudden silence can be majorly attributed to Fed and Nadal's absence in any tournaments in the interim period.

Some may argue that after US Open there is no major tournament that would grab headline except for Master Series and most obviously Year End Tennis Masters Cup. This year Shanghai Masters was highlighted only due to Nadal's presence with due respect to other Top Tennis Players. An ATP Tournament link Halle gets much significant mention in Media because Federer uses it as a preparation for Wimbledon same with the Queen's for Nadal.

If we look back at History, Borg-McEnroe bagged the headlines in 80's. Later in Sampras Era, we had agassi to give the fight giving enough cookies for media. (Btw I loved watching Sampras-Agassi Exhibition Match).

Till Federer put forth his majestic, style and precise play in Tennis, there wasn't a huge following or media attention except for a notable Hewitt / Safin's mention in news circles. When Nadal arrived on stage, the Tennis fans got a new Bi-Polar world of sporting greatness. His muscular, power & rabbit play enthralled the audiences to watch Tennis unison with Gentle, Stylish and precise play of Federer.

Years rolled on, 2005 -2009 with Tennis (Esp. Fed & Nadal) getting maximum mention in the media, generating enough sponsors, revenue for the players & organizers alike. Just imagine a Tennis event without Federer or Nadal. No papparazzi or media headlines except for a few corner page mention :-(. See how much importance Davis Cup took when Spain was pitted against Swiss for World Group Tie next year.

I seriously started to think do Tennis grab headlines when either these two don't play or the famous Fed-Nadal Era comes to an end...Someone seriously has to up his play like these two Gentlemen otherwise Tennis may be relegated to Corner.

Do you think in the same way like me?
