Juventus Transfer News: Eder Militao Linked in Latest Rumours

Christopher SimpsonDec 3, 2017

Juventus are reportedly interested in Sao Paulo teenager Eder Militao.

According to Calciomercato.com's Nicola Balice, Militao's impressive performances have caught the eye of the Old Lady's scouts and the club have already held talks with the 19-year-old's family as they "are convinced he has the potential to be a great player."

He has a release clause of between €8 million and 9 million, which Juventus are prepared to meet, though as he is almost in the final 12 months of his contract, which expires in January 2019, Sao Paolo have opened negotiations over a new deal.

The holding midfielder is a versatile operator who can also cover as a centre-back and right-back.

He has broken into the side this season and become a regular fixture in the team, starting 20 of his 21 senior appearances for the club, which have all come this year.

Physically, the youngster is more than capable of holding his own, and Balice also picked out his positioning and technical ability as strengths in his game.

Here's a look at some of his highlights:

Juventus could use an injection of quality in midfield with Sami Khedira's form a source of disappointment this season.

Bleacher Report's Adam Digby believes his time at the top level is over despite the Germany international grabbing a hat-trick earlier in the season:

What's more, Claudio Marchisio, who has struggled with fitness issues in recent years, will be 32 in January, so it's time the club began their search for a long-term replacement for him, too.

Cover at right-back would also be welcome after they lost Dani Alves in the summer.

The Bianconeri's relative struggles are evidenced by the fact they're in the unusual position of not being top of Serie A—which they've won six seasons running—and are behind both Inter Milan and Napoli in the competition.

If Militao can prove to be a viable option for Juve either in midfield or at right-back, he could be a shrewd buy for the Italian giants.
