Neymar Reportedly Set for PSG Transfer from Barcelona for €222m Release Clause

Rob BlanchetteJul 18, 2017

Neymar has reportedly agreed to exit Barcelona in order to join Paris Saint-Germain, with the French giants prepared to activate his release clause.

Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo (h/t AS) reported the superstar will cost the Ligue 1 team €222 million, shattering the transfer world record.

Per Santi Gimenez of AS, Barca sporting vice-president Jordi Mestre moved quickly to reject the initial rumours that linked the attacker with a move to France.

"I am 200 per cent sure that he will stay," said Mestre. "I have read information in the French press that refutes rumours about PSG's supposed offer, a club that we continue to have absolutely normal relations with. We have the same relations that we always have done. Nothing has changed in that respect."

Neymar remained integral for his side during last season and has formed a deadly alliance with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The Brazil international scored 17 goals in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last term, according to WhoScored.com, proving himself to be one of the world's top players.

A transfer to PSG would be a huge surprise, but the French side need to rebuild after a poor campaign last season.
