Conor McGregor Will KO Floyd Mayweather Inside 35 Seconds, Says Tyson Fury

Matt JonesJun 26, 2017

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury believes Conor McGregor will take just 35 seconds to knock out Floyd Mayweather when the two men meet August 26.

Mayweather is the big favourite to prevail when the pair go head-to-head in what promises to be an intriguing tussle. However, despite McGregor's unfamiliarity with the sweet science, Fury told iFL TV McGregor can get the job done quickly:

"I think McGregor will knock him out in the first 35 seconds, like he'd done to Jose Aldo," Fury said. "I think McGregor will do him inside one round. Come on, McGregor!"

The boxer then said he was planning to call out Hulk Hogan in his next bout, suggesting his answers may well have been tongue-in-cheek.

Fury added he feels as though it would be "great for boxing" if McGregor "tinned" his opponent in what would be a shock victory.

The UFC lightweight champion made a similar prediction to Fury with this post on social media and has been accurate in outlining how his fights will go in the past:

As noted by Fury, McGregor beat featherweight rival Aldo in just 13 seconds when the duo met at UFC 194. The left hand he landed that night would be enough to put any opponent to the mat, you sense, especially someone like Mayweather, who hasn’t been in a competitive fight since September 2015.

However, McGregor is venturing into unknown waters in taking on Mayweather, as he’s never been involved in a professional boxing bout previously. It’s a sport that requires a totally different type of skill set to MMA, and his opponent, who has won all 49 of his professional fights, is rated as the finest fighter of his generation.

Fury will be seeking to get back into action himself soon, having not been involved in a professional fight since his memorable win over Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.

As reported by BBC Sport, he relinquished his heavyweight titles due to mental health issues in October and had his license suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control after a doping offence.
