WR Cameron Smith Transfers to Notre Dame After 3 Seasons at Arizona State
Graduate transfer Cameron Smith will suit up for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2017.
Notre Dame announced the news Monday, noting the wide receiver graduated from Arizona State University and will join the Fighting Irish program with one year of eligibility remaining.
Smith is coming off a relatively quiet 2016 campaign from a statistical perspective. He tallied 11 catches for 183 yards and zero touchdowns for the Sun Devils but was bouncing back from the knee surgery that cost him his 2015 season.
He demonstrated his potential in 2014 when he hauled in 41 catches for 596 yards and six touchdowns and will look to replicate or improve on those numbers with his new team.
Smith is a speedy option who joins a Notre Dame passing attack in need of a boost. The Fighting Irish were a middling 48th in the country in passing yards per game in 2016 on the way to a disastrous 4-8 and bowl-less season.
