Oscar De La Hoya Replies to Dana White, Says Mayweather vs. McGregor Will 'Suck'
Oscar De La Hoya declined to get into a war of words with UFC President Dana White but remained steadfast in his criticism of a potential superfight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.
"My response is, I have to take the high road," De La Hoya said on SportsCenter Monday (via ESPN.com). "Obviously, he says my fight sucks, I say the same thing. That fight is going to suck. It really is."
In an interview with TMZ Sports on May 31, White described De La Hoya as "two-faced," arguing he had changed his tune regarding his opinion on Mayweather vs. McGregor. (Warning: Video contains NSFW language):

White also highlighted the about-face on Twitter:
De La Hoya explained his stance in aย Facebook post. He believes Mayweather vs. McGregor won't provide a net benefit to the sport of boxing.
"After this fight, neither of them will need us anymore," De La Hoya wrote. "Floyd will go back to retirementโpresumably for good this time with another nine-figure paycheckโand Conor will go back to the UFC."
White and De La Hoya are presumably going on the offensive now because they'll likely be competing for attention in the fall. A bout between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez isย confirmedย for Sept. 16, a date Whiteย recently saidย he had tabbed for Mayweather vs. McGregor.
Considering both events will likely command a significant pay-per-view price, many fans may opt to only watch one over the other. In that event, White and De La Hoya have vested interests in painting their bout as the superior PPV.
