Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Danilo Pereira and Mamadou Sakho

Rory MarsdenApr 19, 2017

Liverpool could reportedly face stiff competition from a host of Premier League rivals in their pursuit of FC Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira.

According to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha (via Lucas Sposito of Sport Witness), Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all interested in the 25-year-old and could make moves for him in the summer.

In a previous Sposito report earlier this month it was revealed Liverpool representatives had attended Porto's clash with Benfica to cast their eye over Pereira, per O Jogo.

The Reds will no doubt be aware he is on a number of other clubs' radars and would likely be well advised to move fast should they want to snap him up.

The Portugal international could be a good addition to manager Jurgen Klopp's squad as Liverpool are lacking depth and quality in their engine room.

Jordan Henderson is frustratingly injury-prone, while Emre Can and Lucas Leiva are not consistent enough.

Pereira is both a fine dictator of play from the middle of the park and defensively adept—he could provide an extra layer of protection for Liverpool's consistently vulnerable back line—per WhoScored.com:

He can also contribute in attack and has netted four goals and provided one assist in the Portuguese league in 2016-17, per WhoScored.

A Benfica youth graduate, Pereira will not come cheap as he has a release clause of €60 million (£50.1 million), per Sposito.

Meanwhile, AS Roma have reportedly revived their interest in Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho.

According to MailOnline's Simon Jones, Klopp is still intent on getting rid of Sakho in the summer and Liverpool will look to bag £30 million for the French centre-back.

On loan at Crystal Palace after losing his Liverpool place following a fallout with Klopp, the 27-year-old has impressed since moving to Selhurst Park in January, per Squawka:

As noted by Jones, there is no chance of him getting back in the Liverpool first team next season, but he has boosted his own value at Palace and become an attractive target for other clubs.

A move to Roma would likely work out for all parties as they could afford to meet Liverpool's asking price. They would be signing a fine defender and could offer Sakho the chance to play in the UEFA Champions League.
