Tottenham Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Leon Goretzka and Kieran Trippier
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be ready to rival Juventus in the chase for Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka.
According to Fabrizio Romano of Calciomercato.com, the 22-year-old is aware of interest from Serie A and the Premier League and is consequently stalling on a new deal with at Veltins-Arena. His contract is set to expire in 2018.
It's added that Schalke would demand €30 million (£25.5 million) before cashing in this summer, an amount that will reportedly put off Juve. Spurs and Premier League rivals Everton are said to remain keen on a deal, though.

Here is a look at why Goretzka is said to be attracting the attention of clubs of the calibre of Juventus and Spurs:
The Schalke man has excelled this term for the Bundesliga side. He boasts plenty of qualities Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino would admire, as Goretzka is aggressive, powerful and versatile.
Aside from his combativeness, there's a calmness to the midfielder when the ball is at his feet. Goretzka has shown an intelligence in the way he moves forward this season, chipping in with five goals.

As noted by Bundesliga journalist Alex Chaffer, there's been a real determination about the Germany international since the turn of the year:
Spurs are well stocked in the middle of the park, with the likes of Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier. But if they are to continue progressing and are to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, it's an area they could definitely do with more depth.
Goretzka aligns well with the Tottenham blueprint, although the aforementioned fee does seem excessive for a young footballer with just one year left to run on his contract. If Spurs could negotiate that amount down, the midfielder would definitely be worth considering.
Everton Linked with Kieran Trippier

According to Phil Kirkbride of the Liverpool Echo, Everton are considering a move for Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier this summer.
With Seamus Coleman sidelined for the long term following his recent leg break, it's reported that manager Ronald Koeman is out to strengthen the position. Southampton's Cuco Martina and Trippier are noted as potential targets.
Squawka's Paul Brown is a big fan of the Spurs man and said he's unlucky to have Kyle Walker for competition at White Hart Lane:
Walker's evolution into one of the best right-backs in the league has limited the opportunities available to the former Burnley man. But when Pochettino has handed the 26-year-old a chance, he's done well.
Trippier's game is all about attacking. When the shackles are off, he can be so dangerous bursting down the right wing, and his crossing ability is up there with the best in the Premier League. In just 294 minutes of Premier League football this season, the full-back has grabbed three assists.

Although Trippier has shown brilliant appetite going forward, Tottenham blogger Chris Miller said he's not convinced about the full-back's defensive capabilities:
It's an exciting time to be at Spurs, as the club is moving forward quickly under Pochettino's astute guidance. But if a club does come in for Trippier, he has a big decision to make.
The full-back may be a little rough around the edges, but it's clear he can be a hit in the Premier League. To do that, it's likely he'll have to move elsewhere to get regular football.
