WWE WrestleMania 33: Examining Possible Outcomes of Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton

The Doctor Chris MuellerMar 30, 2017

WrestleMania 33 has several matches you could call main events, but the WWE Championship bout should take priority over most of the card.

This year will see Bray Wyatt defend the most prestigious title in pro wrestling against the man who burned down his compound and disbanded his family, Randy Orton.

This feud has been building for several months while Orton posed as a trusted member of Wyatt's posse, and he even pretended to give up his WrestleMania title shot out of loyalty to his leader.

Let's take a look at each possible outcome for this grudge match to see which one leaves both Superstars in the best position.

Bray Wyatt Wins Clean

Bray Wyatt has been the victim of poor booking for a few years, which is why so many people were happy to see him win the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber.

If he were to retain with a clean finish over Orton, it would solidify him as the top heel on SmackDown and help make up for the many times he should have won in the past.

However, this doesn't do much for Orton. He has been slowly built back up into one of the top babyfaces on the blue brand, and coming up short at the biggest event of the year would stall his progression.

Wyatt Wins with Outside Help

Erick Rowan has been teasing his return recently on Twitter, and we could see him make his comeback at WrestleMania to help his mentor.

Luke Harper and Wyatt are no longer allies, but nobody has mentioned Rowan's allegiances since he underwent surgery in October.

While it would be nice to see The Eater of Worlds get a fair win for once, we have to remember he is a bad guy, and the bad guy is supposed to take the low road.

Having Rowan interfere on Wyatt's behalf would keep the belt around Wyatt's waist while protecting Orton from suffering a clean loss.

This could be used as a way to extend the feud through one more pay-per-view until Wyatt and Orton are put into different storylines.

Orton Wins Clean

Orton is always going to be near the top of the pack after spending so much time in the main event scene over the years, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him walk out of WrestleMania with another title.

It feels like WWE has been using this storyline with Wyatt as a way of building The Viper back up into the top star he was a few years ago.

A clean win over Wyatt would propel Orton back up the metaphorical ladder, but it would negate most of the work WWE has done to make Wyatt look like a champion.

This is Wyatt's first reign as WWE champion, and to see it end less than two months after it started would be disappointing to say the least.

Orton Wins with Outside Help

Orton might leave with the WWE title around his waist if WWE wants to pursue a mentor vs. protege storyline with Wyatt and Harper.

Harper has finally broken free of his abusive leader's grasp, but based on what we saw on the most recent edition of SmackDown, they are far from done with each other.

Wyatt defeated Harper in the main event, but it wasn't a decisive win. Harper was in control until the final moments of the match when Wyatt spring to his feet and hit Sister Abigail for the victory.

Having Harper seek revenge by costing Wyatt the WWE Championship would set them up for an extended program through the spring into the summer.

No-Contest

The most unpopular possibility on this list is going to be Wyatt and Orton fighting to a draw, which could happen through a count-out or disqualification.

A big match at WrestleMania is no time for an ending that will cause the fans to riot, but we have seen management make questionable decisions before.

One possible conclusion would see Harper and Rowan reuniting to destroy both Orton and Wyatt at the same time.

Each possible finish would benefit someone in a different way, but it all depends on who WWE sees as the top priority.

Having Wyatt win with outside interference protects everyone, but it would make some fans unhappy. Either man winning clean would only satisfy half of the WWE Universe. Having Orton win with Harper's help creates more storyline opportunities but ends Wyatt's title reign prematurely.

In the end, whatever WWE decides to do is going to make some people happy and others upset, so all we can do is hope the match provides the proper level of excitement for a WrestleMania main event.
