Browns: Mohamed Massaquoi a No. 1 Receiver | Fantasy Football Rankings
Now that Braylon Edwards has been traded to the Jets, the Browns need a new No. 1 receiver on the team. Now, it looks as if the team will turn to Georgia's product Mohamed Massaquoi as the top dog in Cleveland.
Massaquoi was a second-round pick this year and has out-played fellow rookie Brian Robiskie to be a starter.
No Problems with Rookies?
When head coach Eric Mangini was asked about having a problem with starting two rookie receivers, he said he wouldn't if they earn it. If the Browns do, in fact, start two rookies, that will make two teams in the NFL that are starting two rookie receivers.
The other team with rookies is none other than the Oakland Raiders. This season the Raiders are the worst passing team in football. Not only that, but the Raiders are also the second worst offense for scoring as well.
With Edwards in the lineup, the Browns weren't faring much better, as they were an anemic 26th best passing team. They were also just ahead of the Raiders in scoring as the third worst in the league.
Now, the team is without their best receiver, and they will have to get it done without him.
Will Things Get Better?
Below I have the Browns' schedule up to week 16, and as you can see the next month is not great for passing.
Fantasy Football Rankings for Browns Receivers
Right now the only receiver I would consider for stashing on your team is Massaquoi. He has shown a solid chemistry with Derek Anderson, as they hooked up for eight catches and 148 yards last week.
Not only that, but he should be the one guaranteed receiver to start weekly.
Other than that. I would completely stay away from the Browns passing game until further notice. This offense has been struggling for the past two seasons now, and I'm not sure how much better they can be.
In time, Massaquoi may end up being a starting fantasy football option weekly. For this season, he is just a decent bye-week fill in.
