Phil Jones Suffers Injury During England Training
Manchester United defender Phil Jones will not be part of England's squad when they face Germany in an international friendly on Wednesday.
According to the Press Association (via the Guardian), Jones suffered the undisclosed injury in training. The Football Association further explained the impact of his absence in a statement:
"[Jones] has been released from the England squad after picking up an injury in training ahead of this evening's trip to Germany. The Manchester United defender has returned to his club and will not be part of the group that flies to Dortmund this evening.
There are no immediate plans to call up a replacement but, with Gary Cahill suspended for Sunday's game against Lithuania, [England manager] Gareth Southgate will assess his options following tomorrow's match.

The setback is a cruel blow for Jones, who has enjoyed a resurgence in form under United manager Jose Mourinho this season, helping tide over the team's defence while Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling were absent.
His latest knock will also force Southgate to do some defensive shuffling with little notice ahead of Wednesday's tilt.
Jones has already endured a considerable injury absence in 2016-17 and missed 12 games over a period of 58 days following a knee injury he suffered in September, per Transfermarkt.
The extent of this newest issue is unclear, and it isn't known if it will force him to miss any club matches with the Red Devils.
At 25 years of age, Jones still has time on his hands to prove he's an asset, but setbacks such as this won't aid his campaign at Old Trafford.
From England's perspective, Cahill and John Stones figure to get the start at centre-back in Jones' absence, but Southgate will have to turn to his bench for Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley Stadium because of Cahill's impending suspension.
