Jerry Jones Speaks on Dak Prescott, Cowboys' QB Situation After Win vs. Steelers

It doesn't appear as though Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is going to lose his starting job anytime soon.

Prescott, who took over for an injured Tony Romo (back) at the start of the season, helped the Cowboys improve to 8-1 with a dramatic 35-30 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. After the game, owner Jerry Jones discussed the quarterback dilemma, per Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News:

"It’s not hard at all," Jones added, per ESPN.com's Todd Archer. "Tony would make the same decision. That’s what you do."

Romo was inactive for Sunday's game, as he has been all season, but Clay Williams of CBS 4 reported the veteran will be active next week in a backup role.

Prescott finished Sunday's game with 319 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

While Prescott has had a lot of help from fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliott and an elite offensive line, the quarterback has performed well all year. After Sunday's win, he has 14 passing touchdowns and just two interceptions, plus four rushing touchdowns.

Beyond the statistics, the fourth-round pick has shown impressive poise for a rookie, consistently making big plays when it matters.

Former Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz summed up the quarterback controversy:

Romo earned a trip to the Pro Bowl after leading the Cowboys to a 12-4 record with an NFL-best 113.2 quarterback rating in 2014. However, he hasn't been able to stay healthy since, making only four starts over the last two seasons.

Sticking with what got them to this point represents an easy choice for the Cowboys.
