Harris Suffers Sprained Ankle vs. Kent State

Saturday, Sept. 24

According to Aaron Suttles of the Tuscaloosa News, Harris had to be helped off the field after injuring his right ankle.

Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News added that Harris was taken to the locker room on a cart and that his ankle was heavily taped.

After the game, Alabama head coach Nick Saban confirmed the diagnosis and told reporters the running back is day-to-day.

Harris Top RB Option for Deep Crimson Tide

Prior to his departure from the game, Harris rushed four times for 18 yards against the Golden Flashes.

The Kentucky native is the Crimson Tide's leading rusher with 345 yards on 40 carries, which is good for an average of 8.6 yards per carry.

While Harris' status is unclear, bruising sophomore running back Bo Scarbrough and freshmen B.J. Emmons and Joshua Jacobs figure to receive more carries during his potential absence.

Also, it opens up the possibility for more designed runs involving quarterback Jalen Hurts, which has been a big part of Alabama's offensive success thus far.

While losing Harris doesn't figure to hamper 'Bama against an overmatched Kent State team, his presence will be needed as the No. 1 Tide move forward and look to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.
