Hyde Has Been Bright Spot in Disappointing 49ers Offense
Hyde has been given the opportunity to be a centerpiece of head coach Chip Kelly's offense and has produced 429 yards and six touchdowns on 109 carries in 2016.
The 2014 second-round pick appeared destined for a breakout campaign in 2015, but a foot injury limited him to just seven games. He ended the year with 470 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Despite the injury-riddled campaign, hopes were high for the former Ohio State standout entering 2016 due to Kelly's fast-paced offense and the potential for such an explosive player to put up big numbers within it. However, health continues to be an issue during the 25-year-old's third professional season.
In fact, Hyde couldn't make it through the preseason without getting banged up, as he suffered a concussion in a game against the Green Bay Packers.
The Niners missed Hyde in the nine games he sat out last season, as they struggled at quarterback and lacked top-end skill players. Those issues still exist in 2016.
