Davis Unable to Shake Injury Woes

Pelicans fans likely hold their breath whenever Davis appears to suffer an injury.

The 6'10" power forward is already one of the top big men in the NBA, finishing the 2015-16 season with averages of 24.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. It was the third year in a row that the three-time All-Star reached the 20-10-2 plateau.

When healthy, the former No. 1 overall pick is a superstar. The problem has been his inability to stay on the court.

In four seasons, Davis has never played in more than 68 games in a season, missing time because of a variety of injuries. Chris Towers of CBSSports.com detailed the 11 ailments that forced him to miss at least two consecutive games through his first four years in the NBA, including a knee injury that prematurely ended his 2015-16 campaign.

Davis is in the first season of a five-year extension worth north of $127 million, and the Pelicans will be hopeful he is able to remain on the court throughout the season.
