Walker Injury Deprived Mariota of Favorite Target
With quarterback Marcus Mariota at the helm in 2015, Walker broke out to the tune of a career-high 94 catches for 1,088 yards and six touchdowns. In fact, Walker led all tight ends in receptions while ranking fifth with 13 catches of at least 20 yards.
Following his breakout campaign, Walker signed a three-year, $14.7 million contract extension that includes $8.2 million guaranteed.
"They invested in me once before, and now they have done it again, and I am not going to let them down," Walker said, per Wyatt. "I am going to go out there and give it all I’ve got. I am a hard worker on the field and off the field. I do a lot in the community, so I am kind of grounded here in Nashville."
In two games this season, Walker has posted nine catches for 125 yards and one touchdown.
Walker is Mariota's favorite target, so losing the veteran pass-catcher for any sort of extended stretch would've hindered the offense's potential. Jace Amaro figures to slot in as the primary replacement if Walker is sidelined again.
