Jon Jones' B Sample Tests Positive: Latest Comments, Reaction

Joe PantornoJul 8, 2016

The UFC rocked the sports world Wednesday when it pulled Jon Jones off Saturday's UFC 200 card for a potential doping violation.

On Friday, the United States Anti-Doping Agency confirmed to ESPN's Brett Okamoto (via SportsCenter) that Jones' B sample also tested positive.

Jones initially tested positive for a banned substance in an out-of-competition sample June 16, per Okamoto.

Fox Sports: UFC showed the announcement:

Jones spoke about the failed test with the media Thursday, per Shaun Al-Shatti of MMAFighting.com:

"

I've been taking the same supplements for the majority of my career and I've been so outspoken about being against any type of performance enhancers. I'm still to the day against performance enhancers. And so the one thing that sucks, being labeled as someone who cheats, it hurts me more than anything else I've ever been through in my career.

"

Al-Shatti also noted a positive B sample could result in a two-year suspension, and UFC President Dana White told Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports that he has no interest in speaking to Jones:

Jones was slated to fight light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier in the main event at UFC 200 on Saturday in Las Vegas for the unified title. Instead, 41-year-old Anderson Silva will fight Cormier, who was distraught after learning the news of Jones' positive test, as UFC Europe showed (warning: NSFW language):

Jones has had several chances after run-ins with the law and the UFC, which Steven Marrocco of MMAJunkie documented in April 2015, and his failed drug test has put his MMA future over the next few years in question.
