The two-time Pro Bowler discovered magic on the heels of a childhood tragedy. In an appearance on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel in 2014, Dorenbos explained a friend introduced him to magic after his father was convicted of killing his mother.
"It was something that, at the darkest time of my life, was genuinely fun for me," Dorenbos told Gumbel. "It saved me, man. It really did."
