The Monroe Police Department released a statement on the arrests, per CollegeFootball 24/7:

Casagrande reported that Robinson—still in jail Tuesday morning with a $750 bond—was charged with felony illegal possession of stolen firearms and misdemeanor possession.

Casagrande provided more details from the police report:

"

The arrest occurred early Tuesday morning in a parking lot of a local park. According to the police report, officers pulled up to Robinson's car at 2:33 a.m. smelling marijuana.

When approaching the vehicle, officers spotted a handgun on the lap of the passenger. A bag of marijuana was also observed on the driver's side floorboard. The stolen handgun was located under Robinson's seat. Jones and Robinson were also charged with possessing a handgun in the presence of narcotics.

"

"We are aware of the situation involving [Hootie] Jones and [Cam] Robinson and are in the process of gathering facts to determine what internal action needs to be taken," head coach Nick Saban said, per Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News.

Saban further discussed the arrests in an interview on WNSP later Thursday, per Charlie Potter of 247Sports:

"

We all have a responsibility and obligation to represent the university, ourselves and our family in a first-class way. Obviously, we're a little disappointed that better choices and decisions weren't made here, but until we get the facts, we don't really have much else to say about it.

"

In 2014, Robinson became the first true freshman to start for Alabama since Julio Jones in 2008 and the first to do so at left tackle since Andre Smith in 2006. The Football Writers Association of America named him to their freshman All-America team.

As a sophomore last season, Robinson was named to the All-SEC first team and helped lead Alabama to a victory in the College Football Playoff National Championship over Clemson.

Robinson is regarded as a top prospect for next year's NFL draft, with B/R's Matt Miller having the Crimson Tide star ranked sixth on his initial big board for 2017 and listing him as the best run- and pass-blocker among offensive tackles.

Jones has played sparingly in his two seasons at Alabama, recording two tackles each year.

Alabama's offensive line was one of its biggest strengths last season, and the entire unit won the inaugural Joe Moore Award for the best offensive line in the nation. Ryan Kelly and Dominick Jackson departed, leaving Saban with two holes to fill before the season starts in September.
