Real Madrid Transfer News: Eden Hazard Deal Reported Amid Chelsea Exit Rumours

Rory MarsdenApr 12, 2016

Real Madrid have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Chelsea winger Eden Hazard in the summer for just £32 million.

The Belgian has long been linked with Los Blancos while struggling with poor form at Stamford Bridge this season, and Real manager Zinedine Zidane has now "fulfilled his dream" of signing Hazard, according to Spanish outlet Ok Diario (via Marc Williams in the Daily Star).

The report added that Hazard, 25, has agreed personal terms with Real and relayed confirmation of the deal from Spanish football writer Eduardo Inda: "Eden Hazard is done. The amount has been agreed with the player and with Chelsea."

Hazard has not scored a single goal for Chelsea all season in the Premier League as the Blues have failed miserably in their title defence, per WhoScored.com.

However, he was excellent in their title-winning 2014-15 campaign and was crowned the league's Player of the Season.

The Telegraph's Sam Wallace recently told Sky Sports' Sunday Supplement show that he did not envisage the Blues selling Hazard in the summer, as incoming manager Antonio Conte will be expected to get the best out of him:

"

I do not think [Chelsea] envisage massive changes and they certainly do not envisage selling Hazard because he is, for all his faults, a player who is very highly regarded.

I think there would be people biting Chelsea's hand off to sign him. He has had a terrible season, no two ways about it and we may never know why.

But certainly one of the things the new manager will be expected to do will be to get the best out of him.

"

It certainly seems unlikely that Chelsea would be open to selling Hazard for as little as £32 million—they reportedly paid the same amount to buy him from Lille in 2012.

Indeed, his value has been quoted in various reports as high as £80 million, and it is unlikely that any less than £50 million could persuade Chelsea to do business, per Belgian football writer Kristof Terreur:

Zidane has long been an admirer of Hazard, and he was picked out as a potential target for the Frenchman upon his January appointment by Bleacher Report's Dean Jones and Sam Tighe:

It would be no surprise if Los Blancos do sign Hazard in the summer, not least because he could be the ideal long-term successor to 31-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo.

They will surely have to shell out more than £32 million, though, if they are to get their man.
