Breaking News:

According to a source with ESPN, USC Trojan's running back Stafon Johnson was injured today in a freak weight room accident. The initial report suggests that Johnson was doing some sort of weight lifting when one of the bars fell or snapped and landed on Johnson's throat. The report also mentioned the fact that Johnson was coughing up blood and bleeding from the nose. Emergency surgery may be needed and his condition at the hospital is "serious." MORE BREAKING NEWS:

USC Trojan's blog writer Ben Malcolmson just blogged about Johnson's injury in more description, that blog can be seen here: http://www.usctrojans.com/blog/

It does appear that Johnson was bench-pressing with a spotter at the time and the weight slipped and landed on Johnson's throat. Johnson is in surgery this afternoon and no reports have come out about his recovery. I want to send my prayers to Johnson, his family, friends, and of course the Trojan family!

First off, lets hope he is okay and nothing serious happened to the young man. Second, this could be a big loss for USC if he misses any practices or games. Johnson has been sharing the load at running back with Joe McKnight and there is no doubt that Johnson is USC's best red zone runner.

So far this season he has 32 carries for 157 yards and 5 touchdowns including the game-winning touchdown at Ohio State.

If this injury is indeed serious, look for C.J. Gable and physical freak Allen Bradford to get more carries. Also, freshman speedster Curtis McNeal could even see some playing time.

Hopefully Johnson is okay and when there is more news released I will update this article!

***Remember, these are early reports and USC hasn't commented much and a lot of information has not been received yet.
