The Sprint Cup Series was in Dover, DE this weekend for the second race of the Chase, at the track known as the Monster Mile or Bristol on Steroids.
Jimmie Johnson, just like in June, dominated the day and picked up his fourth win of the season and his fifth career at Dover. That gave one of our Creatures a victory as well and shot him to the top of the point standings.
As for the rest of our Creatures, none of them came close to the Jimmie Johnson pick and had to settle for the later part of the top ten, although there were some that are very glad the day is over and we’re heading to Kansas.
Here’s a look at the very different point standings after 400 miles at the concrete Monster Mile.
Rob Tiongson (5,360) Jimmie Johnson won (2)
Ben Bomberger (-11) Ryan Newman finished 10th (3)
Mary Jo Buchanan (-46) Ryan Newman finished 10th (0)
Kara Martin (-53) Ryan Newman finished 10th (3)
Jen Preston (-56) Ryan Newman finished 10th (1)
James Broomhead (-66) Carl Edwards finished 11th (3)
Kelly Crandall (-84) Tony Stewart finished ninth (2)
David Phillips (-119) Kyle Busch finished 31st (2)
Mason Dunn (-125) Denny Hamlin finished 22nd (0)
Danielle Henderson (-175) NO PICK SENT (2)
SM Napier (-216) Greg Biffle finished 13th (2)
Adam Heasley (-330) NO PICK SENT (3)
Check back on Friday to see whom our Creatures are putting their faith in when the Sprint Cup Series heads to Kansas for Chase race No. 3, which will mean there are only eight races left for everyone’s championship hopes.
Remember Creatures to send your picks in as soon as you can, and you may send in your pick on Friday but it will be locked out 30 minutes after the publication of the article. Any picks sent in after practice has begun will be locked out as well.
