On Wednesday night, the Gilmour Academy (Gates Mills, Ohio) Lancers showed why they were a No. 1 seed with a dominant victory over Northeast Ohio College Preparatory School (Cleveland) in an Ohio Division III Sectional semifinal game.
The final score? 108-1.
A score like that indicates the game was over early. According to Twitter user @FirstClass_Z, the Lancers jumped out to a 72-1 lead in the first half.

A blowout like that occasionally leads to some outrage. However, Gilmour Academy did try to keep the final score from getting too ugly, as it took its foot off the gas a bit in the second half (36-0).
"Our intent was to not run anything up, and we took steps to not disrespect our opponent," Lancers coach Bob Beutel said, per Nathaniel Cline of Cleveland.com. "They went 0-for-28 from the field and 1-for-4 from the free-throw line. We let them shoot."
Lopsided games are just a part of high school basketball playoffs. If you look at the OHSAA bracket, you will see plenty of blowouts, such as a 107-30 game and a 90-23 game. Sometimes, there's just no keeping a game close.
Next up for Gilmour Academy? The Wickliffe (Ohio) Blue Devils. Hopefully, for everyone involved, that matchup will be more competitive than the Lancers' last game.
