Travis Benjamin Reportedly to Sign with San Diego Chargers
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin has apparently found a new home as the NFL officially enters free agency.
NFL Network's Rand Getlin reported "Benjamin plans to sign with the Chargers when the market officially opens." He added that "there was a ton of interest in the market for him." Adam Schefter of ESPN confirmed that report.
Despite the Browns' quarterback woes, Benjamin had a career year in 2015 with 68 receptions, 966 yards and five touchdowns.
Benjamin's role was a big one last season. In addition to being a wide receiver, he averaged 11.6 yards per punt return, including a return touchdown. The only knock on the 26-year-old could be the fact his production dropped after a sizzling start to the season.
| Receptions/Game | 3.3 | Receptions/Game | 4.5 |
| Yards/Game | 83.0 | Yards/Game | 55.2 |
| Total Touchdowns | 5 | Total Touchdowns | 1 |
He was still by far the Browns' most productive wide receiver, although tight end Gary Barnidge was the No. 1 target for Cleveland quarterbacks last season. Despite that, Benjamin has potential and is heading into the beginning of his prime.
