Kansas State Wildcats vs. Kansas Jayhawks Betting Odds, Analysis, Preview

OddsShark.comFeb 3, 2016

The Kansas State Wildcats (13-8) will try to upset the seventh-ranked Kansas Jayhawks (17-4) for the third time in four meetings when they visit Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday night as 11.5-point betting underdogs at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

Kansas State has also covered the spread in each of the last three games between the teams in this Big 12 intrastate rivalry, winning the last two times as the host, while Kansas will look to extend its 35-game home winning streak.

In both recent series wins for the Wildcats, they were small home underdogs, according to the Odds Shark College Basketball Database. However, they are double-digit road dogs for the third straight time here and barely covered at plus-11.5 in their last trip to Lawrence nearly a year ago in a 68-57 loss.

Kansas State has won two of three straight up overall after dropping five of six, and the team has failed to beat the spread in its last two following covers in seven of its previous eight.

Meanwhile, the Jayhawks have not won consecutive games since January 9, and they are coming off a 90-84 overtime victory against the Kentucky Wildcats as 5.5-point home favorites on Saturday.

Wayne Selden Jr. led Kansas with a career-high 33 points, including seven in the extra session, to help put away Kentucky. Three of the team’s four losses have taken place on the road over the past month, and the Jayhawks ended a five-game skid against the number by covering in overtime versus the Wildcats.

They are 1-3 against the spread in their last four home games too, with all of them decided by less than 10 points.

Kansas has won 25 in a row as a double-digit favorite, going 17-8 ATS in those games. However, the Jayhawks have failed to cover their last two under that scenario this season against the Texas Longhorns and TCU Horned Frogs.

Kansas State has dropped nine of 10 as a double-digit dog, but the team has gone 6-3-1 ATS. That includes 2-1-1 ATS this year for the Wildcats, with only one of the games decided by more than 10 points.

The lone non-cover recently came in a 70-55 loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers as 10.5-point road dogs on January 26.
