Outback Bowl 2016: Tennessee vs. Northwestern Live Score and Highlights

After the total annihilation of No. 13-ranked Northwestern in the Outback Bowl, the Tennessee football team gathered in the corner of Raymond James Stadium and swayed back and forth as the band played the "Tennessee Waltz."

The real waltz happened during the game.

Tennessee scored 35 consecutive points and ran away with the Wildcats by a 45-6 score that ushered in what is sure to be an offseason filled with expectations. It was evident the Vols were the best team from the outset, and the game was never close after the break.

Sophomore running back Jalen Hurd finished with 130 rushing yards and a touchdown to win MVP honors, and quarterback Joshua Dobbs accounted for 214 total yards and a pair of rushing scores as the Vols put behind them all of those early-season demons and won six consecutive games to close the year.

The Vols were sizzling on a hot and humid day in Tampa, Florida.

"We knew it was going to be hot," Hurd told ESPN2's Quint Kessenich after the game. "We persevered through this whole week and this whole camp basically, preparing for this bowl game, and it showed tonight. I don't think they were prepared for the weather, and we fought hard. I'm proud of our team and I'm proud of the outcome.

"We just got to clicking. Our tempo was tiring them, and we just kept working."
