Johnny Manziel Won't Face NFL Discipline for Roadside Incident with Girlfriend

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was announced as the team's starter Tuesday and also won't face NFL discipline for a roadside incident with his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley.

Manziel released a statement regarding the league's decision not to discipline him, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:

I appreciate the NFL’s diligence and discretion in reviewing a situation that was both personal and embarrassing. Colleen and I cooperated fully with the NFL’s process and completely support their goals of making sure that every family under their umbrella is safer and more secure. I’m grateful that the review was so thorough and fair that there should be no question left in the public mind about what actually happened. I’m looking forward to focusing my energies on our start against the Ravens and bringing in a win for our fans in Cleveland.

Manziel and Crowley got into an argument in October while the former Heisman Trophy winner was driving on an interstate west of Cleveland, according to a police report ESPN.com's Pat McManamon cited.

It led to Manziel cutting over several lanes of traffic and exiting the highway. Police eventually pulled them over and questioned the couple. However, no arrests were made, and no charges were pressed. Crowley emerged from the scene with an abrasion on her arm, which police determined as a result of her trying to exit the vehicle while it was moving and Manziel preventing her from doing so.

The Browns are on a bye before a Week 12 AFC North matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football in Manziel's debut as the full-time starting signal-caller. Manziel threw for 372 yards and a touchdown and had a team-high 17 rushing yards in Sunday's road loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10.
