Luke McCown Injury: Updates on Saints QB's Recovery from Back Surgery

Saints Sign Journeyman Matt Flynn to Replace McCown

According to NOLA.com's Katherine Terrell, McCown missed practice Thursday and Friday leading up to the Saints' Week 9 tilt against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Then in the early-morning hours before the game, Rapoport reported the Saints worried McCown's season could be in jeopardy.

The Saints announced Monday they signed eight-year veteran backup Matt Flynn to replace McCown on the roster. The 30-year-old has made seven starts in his career, and played in parts of 53 games. He's attempted 357 passes, throwing for 2,541 yards, 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

McCown, 34, filled in well for Brees in a Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers, connecting on 31 of 38 passes for 310 yards and an interception.  In 62 career games, including 10 starts, McCown has attempted one less pass than Flynn, while throwing for 2,370 yards, nine touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
