Rollins Comments on Injury, Recovery
Saturday, Nov. 7
PappollaĀ provided comments from an interview with Rollins in which the WWE star described his current state:
"You know, overall, I think Iām in a pretty good spot. Physically, my knee doesnāt hurt. Like, one thing people donāt understand, a common question is, āHow much pain are you in?ā The ligaments donāt have nerve endings, so, thatās a good thing and a bad thing, but I donāt feel any pain, itās just a lot of instability in the knee capsule. So, Iām doing a lot of compression to kind of reduce the swelling and stuff like that. Emotionally ⦠could be better. Obviously itās a tough spot to be in. Iām mostly just looking forward to getting the surgery done and getting better every day.
"
He also spoke at length about how he suffered the injury:
"Letās see, we were inĀ Dublin, Ireland, first night of the tour and I was in the main event. I was setting up to do something Iāve done a million times ā flipping over my opponent while he was standing on the second [rope]. I landed underneath him and then picked him up for a Powerbomb. And for whatever reason, I just landed on the inside of my right foot, instead of flat with my feet and my knee gave. If youāve seen the video, you know it looks pretty graphic. It didnāt feel as graphic though. It just felt like my knee dislocated and then kind of popped back in. So, I hustled back up and got underneath, made sure my feet were steady and delivered the Powerbomb. Then, I did a self-evaluation real quick to see what was going on. I realized my knee was pretty unstable and noticed that it felt like it was flopping around. I didnāt feel like I had a lot of control under it. I was able to move around enough to finish the match, hit a Pedigree and get the win. Afterwards, I just laid there and [tried to] figure out what was going on. Again, I wasnāt in a whole bunch of pain, I just felt like my knee wasnāt right. I wasnāt really sure of the extent of the damage until the next morning when I got the MRI.

Rollins to Be Out for 6-9 Months
Thursday, Nov. 5
Jonathan Coachman of ESPN reported on Rollins' status, indicating the 29-year-old injured his ACL, MCL and medial meniscus:
Rollins is the WWE world heavyweight champion, but he will lose his belt due to his impending injury hiatus. Per Coachman, Survivor Series will hold a tournament in Atlanta on Nov. 22 to crown a new heavyweight titleholder.
The WWE released an official statement to confirm Rollins' injury and revealed the details for the Survivor Series tournament are yet to be fully determined.
Roman Reigns was initially scheduled to challenge Rollins in a singles match for the heavyweight championship at Survivor Series. Reigns was Rollins' former championship tag team partner with The Shield.
While the tournament at Survivor Series promises to thrill and benefit the WWE from a storyline perspective, Rollins is a tremendous cornerstone for pro wrestling and will be sorely missed as he recovers.
